Hello Alan
I just purchased your book “Guide to Songbird Set-up” and it’s a fantastic photo’s. Even though I live in an area with a lot of trees I would like to create a fack background like you. Can you please give a few details on how you created it? How far are you setting it back from the perch, what is the total size of teh background and how are you supporting it? I can’t quite tell from this photo
I use four poster size prints of an out-of-focus image of some trees. I glued them to a large foam core board. I then supported it with a pole that is use for hanging a bird feeder. As far as the distance you set it back, it depends on what lens you are using and what effect you need. The futher away the more softer the BG. Try different distances. I believe I started with 15 feet.

Good luck,
